Analyze your Simulation Results with Projection Operators
Have you ever used your hands to make shadow puppets on the wall? By shining a light behind your (three-dimensional) hands, you create two-dimensional projections on the wall. When analyzing your simulation data in COMSOL Multiphysics, you can do something similar with your model using projection operators.
Visualization for 2D Axisymmetric Electromagnetics Models
Today we’ll look at how to make 3D plots of vector fields that are computed using the 2D axisymmetric formulation found in the Electromagnetic Waves, Frequency Domain interface within the RF and Wave Optics modules.
How to Implement a Mesh Refinement Study
A couple of weeks ago, I led a webinar on postprocessing and visualization features in COMSOL Multiphysics. This webinar was very popular among COMSOL users, so I wanted to follow up with a blog post to highlight one of the important topics we covered — performing a mesh refinement study in COMSOL Multiphysics.
Advanced Visualization Techniques in Postprocessing
Looking for ways to cut down on the time and computer memory required to run your simulation? Does your model exhibit some form of symmetry — axial symmetry, lines or planes of symmetry, or antisymmetry for example? Or perhaps your model exhibits periodicity? If you answered yes to those questions, you’re in luck. You can model symmetry or periodicity in COMSOL Multiphysics easily by either using a 1D or 2D axisymmetric dimensional simulation or by incorporating boundary conditions that represent […]
We have written several blog posts on postprocessing already, but none detailing postprocessing for CFD. Postprocessing has always been an important part of my teachings, as you learn how to use COMSOL Multiphysics while also gaining insight into the physics at hand. I would like to share with you part of the classwork I proposed when teaching a CFD training course not long ago.
Video Tutorial: Basic Visualization
I’m back on the blog with the latest installment in the Postprocessing and Visualization Videos series. The two-part video shown here covers “Basic Visualization”. Chapter 1 and 2 will give you an overview of COMSOL’s visualization tools so that you can optimize how you view your model, both while setting up your physics and while postprocessing. I explain two tricks in the video that I’d like to draw your attention to in particular.
Video Tutorial: Create 1D Plots in COMSOL
Would you like to plot your own expressions in COMSOL? Have you ever wanted the power to measure parameters from your virtual model at whatever point you’d like, just as you would in a physical model? This new postprocessing tutorial video duo explains how to create 1D plots in COMSOL.
Video Tutorial: Creating and Customizing Plots in COMSOL
As promised, I’m back to introduce to you the second tutorial video in the new postprocessing blog series. This video covers the basics of creating plots, including some useful ways you can tweak and customize your plots. For example, have you ever wanted to improve the resolution of a plot, add or modify titles and axis labels, standardize the color bars over multiple graphs in one plot group, modify a deformation plot’s scaling, or view multiple plots in the COMSOL […]
