Laser heating of very thin surface

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi, I'm trying to make a model of laser heating a very thin plate of Al, and have resorted to a swept mesh to even get the mesh down, as Comsol wont mesh it otherwise due to size. I have the laser shot at the plate, but I do not understand what happens from there. The lines seem to pass through the plate, and yet no temperature change happens, regardless of the power projected. I have tried making a boundary layer mesh as that be what I am missing, but this suffers the same dimensions problem as the original mesh, and Comsol cannot make this.

Do anyway have an idea of how to get the interaction I'm looking for? I've attached the file in case it clarifies my rambling. Regards.
