Arterial Wall Viscoelasticity

Anisotropic hyperelastic materials are used for modeling collagenous soft tissue in arterial walls. The arterial wall mechanics application describes a section of an artery based on the Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden hyperelastic material model. In this example the dynamic behavior of the artery is studied, especially the viscoelastic response is calculated by adding a five branches viscoelasticity feature to the hyperelastic material.
This model example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
- COMSOL Multiphysics® and
- Nonlinear Structural Materials Module and
- either the MEMS Module, or Structural Mechanics Module
