The Application Gallery features COMSOL Multiphysics® tutorial and demo app files pertinent to the electrical, structural, acoustics, fluid, heat, and chemical disciplines. You can use these examples as a starting point for your own simulation work by downloading the tutorial model or demo app file and its accompanying instructions.

Search for tutorials and apps relevant to your area of expertise via the Quick Search feature. To download the MPH-files, log in or create a COMSOL Access account that is associated with a valid COMSOL license. Note that many of the examples featured here can also be accessed via the Application Libraries that are built into the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and available from the File menu.

Cluster Setup Validation

Use this app to validate that the default settings correctly submit jobs to a cluster. These default settings are taken from the preferences. The app allows you to override the default cluster settings, test modifications to the current setup, and test different settings for connecting ... Read More

Minimizing the Flow Velocity in a 3D Microchannel

Inverted elements can prevent large deformations for shape optimization. This model demonstrates how this problem can be circumvented using export/import of the geometry and a model method. The technique is demonstrated on a benchmark problem from topology optimization, where the ... Read More

Tank Series with Feedback Control

This example illustrates how to set up and solve a tank-in-series model in 0D using the Reaction Engineering interface. The model treats a series of three consecutive tank reactors. A feedback loop continuously adjusts the inlet concentration of the first tank to keep the concentration ... Read More

Modeling a Koch Snowflake

This example exemplifies how to model a Koch snowflake using the Application Builder. A more detailed description of the phenomenon and the modeling process can be seen in the blog post "[Using the Application Builder to Create a Koch Snowflake](https://www.comsol.com/blogs/using-the-application-builder-to-create-a-koch-snowflake/) ... Thermal Performances of Roller Shutters

During the design of a building, environmental issues have gained considerable influence in the entire project. One of the first concerns is to improve thermal performances. In this process, simulation software are key tools to model thermal losses and performances in the building. The ... Read More

Radial Basis Function Interpolation

This demonstration app will fit a surface through a set of points using radial basis functions and will write out a COMSOL-format file of a smooth NURBS surface that passes through all of the points. The function describing the surface can also be written to a text file. The point data ... Read More

Gray Body

A gray body with a spherical cavity with various opening areas is simulated using the _Heat Transfer, Surface-to-Surface Radiation_ interface. The emissivity for each case is computed and compared with the classical gray body theory. The COMSOL Multiphysics® result agrees very ... Read More

Lombardi Surface Mobility

Surface acoustic phonons and surface roughness have an important effect on the carrier mobility, especially in the thin inversion layer under the gate in MOSFETs. The Lombardi surface mobility model adds surface scattering resulting from these effects to an existing mobility model using ... Read More

How to Export Images Automatically After Solving

This example demonstrates how to use a parameterized slice plot and animation functionality to export a sequence of images. In addition, the example shows how to use a job sequence to perform a programmatic sequence of operations where the model is first solved and then the image ... Read More

Modeling a Radial Cam Based Valve Opening Mechanism

In this example, a spring-loaded valve-opening mechanism consisting of a rocker arm and a radial cam is studied. All of the system components are modeled as rigid and are connected through prismatic, hinge, and slot joints. The cam-follower connection as well as other joint connections ... Read More
