Why refine mesh does not work

I am working on solving couples of equations in PDE time dependent, general form with COMSOL 3.5A. When I used initialize mesh, it worked very well. However when I use refine mesh or define a free mesh parameters, it can not run completely. I suppose the refine mesh only accurate the results, why it would influence the process, and what should I do if I want to refine mesh? Thank you for your attention.

Hi,

maybe your machine is just running out of memory with the fine mesh.

Perhaps you are refining the mesh in the wrong places. How are you refining ? Have you tried the automatic mesh refinement and let comsol refine for you ? This only works for free mesh, but it does a great job of it !
